New Magazine Launch.

Where has the time gone? it seems like only a few weeks ago I was all excited about getting the opportunity to write a monthly piece for a new women’s magazine launching the end of September. I was being given a chance to write about something I love but don’t share that much here on the blog for some reason, slow living. Now here we are nearly three months after I submitted my first three pieces to our editor Nicola OHanlon, only three days away from its online launch.

I am still amazed and grateful to Nicola for giving little old me this chance and I am getting to work with some other pretty amazing and talented women. So a little about this new magazine, hands up who loves all the high end fashion magazines? hands up who drools over all the designer clothes? hands up who knows that one they possibly cant afford whats in the pages of the magazine and who also knows that while the latest dress on the very stunning model is amazing not one leg would even fit into it for the rest of us. Well this is the magazine for you, a magazine for all ages, sizes, backgrounds and interests. A magazine full of real life , with real inspiration and realistic goals to reach. This magazine will hopefully leave you inspired when you are finished not wishing you could win the lotto or were a size 0.

I asked Nicola during the week if there was anything she would like me to put in this post and this is what she said about our magazine ” really is meeting women where they are at, encouraging women to see themselves in a more positive light, articles written about real life topics, and having a lifestyle website that is bypassing the celebrity role model and having relateable role models instead.” . We want everyone to enjoy this, get inspiration and bring realistic goals into their own lives.

I am so excited and nervous for Friday which is launch day, I want it so badly to be a success as does everyone else. We want to inspire you all, so now I am going to ask you all to give the magazine a follow on Twitter on our Instagram and to go sign up to our website so you will get a notification the minute it launches on Friday.

There are also two hashtags to use one is the magazine tag which is #lpliving please use it on your social media so we can see what you guys all think and the hashtag for my piece each month is #lpslowlived which I will be using and I hope you will as well.

I wont be able to sleep the next two nights.

Taking An August Break 2017.

One of the first ever blogs I read was one by Susannah Conway , her Instagram was also one of the first I started following. Her blog is beautiful , well written and a joy to read and her photos are just an inspiration. When I started blogging first I felt bad that one of my favourite bloggers wasn’t an Irish one, I felt at times I should have been following more Irish bloggers and sharing the love but I just couldn’t find many that I enjoyed and even now most of my favourite blogs and Instagram accounts are based outside of Ireland but sshhhh don’t tell anyone.

So this break I am talking about is a break from the usual, a break to try something different, an excuse to take different photos than you would normally and an excuse to have fun for a month. So I will be back to posting daily but just a lot more photos for the month, maybe some days I will have a chat, maybe it will be just a picture of what ever that days prompt is or maybe it will be ten photos. I am really looking forward to this because I loved the month I blogged everyday and I am missing it a little which is why I am so looking forward to this.

If you would like to join in then Susannah has a prompt for everyday on her blog for us all to follow and share, here they are.

The hashtag is #augustbreak2017 so everyone taking part can see your photos and there is also a Facebook page but all details are on her blog so go have a look.

So tomorrow is the first day and its all about the morning, I will be sharing mine on my Instagram so come have a look and will be sharing on my stories as well.

See you all in the morning.

Our Blogging Month Is Over.

We have reached the end of my challenge I set myself at the start of June, to blog everyday for the month, post to Instagram everyday and use Instagram stories more. The month flew by and I have loved every minute of it, getting into a routine of writing my posts at night to post the next morning.  I have used Instagram stories everyday except today ( Sid tried to break his face by falling on it today) and posted a photo to my Instagram. I missed two days blogging, one was near the start of the month and one was Tuesday which must be a personal record for me. I have loved every minute of it, I did wonder at the start if I would pass day three of the challenge but here we are on 30th June.

So did blogging and posting to Instagram everyday actually make much difference to my platforms?

To my blog it made a huge difference, my first blog I had a few years ago I was so good at posting to it but this one I was always a bit lazy. I always had an excuse as to why I couldn’t write a post, too busy, to tired, too early in the day, too late in the day or just nothing to post about. This month was the best decision I have made for this little blog and it is only a very little blog as far as blogs go!. When I started this month my monthly views were between 300 and 500 and this has now gotten to 1600 which is a huge jump for me  and I am delighted so many people took the time to come say hi. The amount of interaction on the blog hasn’t increased that much but I am also very bad at commenting on the blogs I read so maybe that’s something I will work on for July. I have never had a day when I didn’t have something to write about which is always good. So yes for blogging I think it is the case of more is better and you also start to hear your voice coming back.

Instagram now on the other hand is a bitch, there is no other way really to describe it. It is a place that tries to suck the good out of you and just make you depressed and feel totally crap. This is a place you need to really not care about the numbers because they for me and lots of others I know are in a constant cycle of change and not always in a good way.  I am on Instagram years and in the past three to four months have been really trying hard to up my game, I took a course, interacted with lots of other people and followed loads of new ones. Really tried hard with my photos and did anything over the month really change ? not really if you were to compare it to the change in my blog.  My followers at the start of the month were 692 they are now as I type 700, during this month I have reached 700 four times though and every time within 2 to 3 days I will be back to where I started or less, this is so depressing, I think now its a platform for the really big  and little fish like me just get eaten up and lost. On the plus side my stories have grow from 40 views a day up to 71 views so maybe video is the way to go ?. The other thing I found was that for me posting at 7am worked so much better than posting in the evenings so in the future that is one thing I will keep up.

So there is my month on the scale of it I am only a tiny speck on the blogging or Instagram world but they are my tiny specks and I love them both even if one is a bitch to use. I am loving stories as I am just to old for Snapchat so that is another thing that will stay now as well.

So will I keep it up now for July and longer? or will I slip back into my old lazy half arsed ways ?

Thats up to you, I am going to make you decide what it is you would like. Would you like three/four times a week on set days ? so you know that 7am on that day a post will be there or would you like me to keep up the everyday as best I can ? please leave me a comment here or on my Twitter or come give me a follow on Instagram so I might stay at or even pass 700. Whatever you guys let me know you would like to see I won’t be back till Monday because I am taking the next two days off.

Look forward to seeing which you want.

Instagram Accounts I Love.

I have been a fan of Instagram for years but never really putting much effort into what I posted until a few months ago when I took Sara Tasker’s Instagram retreat. It opened my eyes to a wealth of talent and some amazing accounts. It has also pushed me to put a lot more effort into my own Instagram

Today I want to share four accounts I absolutely love and hope you like them as much as I do.

First up is Claire , her account is just beautiful, her two boys are so cute and she has a new blog on the way.

Next is Rachael her account is Rachael’s photos are always so beautiful and her feed is an inspiration.

Next is Charlie her  account is always full of truly beautiful photos that are a pleasure to see everyday.

Last we have leanmeanmomma , Cliona is a blogger and mum from Cork and I just love her photos and her daily story. It always brightens my day, her four kids are very cute.

So there are four of my favourite Instagram Accounts, I have lots more that I will share with you over the coming months, maybe do a favourites each month.

Please check out these accounts and mine and give us all some love. What Instagram Accounts do you love ?

Your Health Is Your Wealth.

Your Health Is Your Wealth is one of those sayings you hear people say but never really think about. As far as getting sick  goes I have had a fairly average time of it, getting all the usuals each year, some snotty noses, sore throats and may be if I am really unlucky a tummy bug. I am not easy on myself, I didn’t drink enough water, eat enough fruit and veg, possibly get enough rest but this body of mine played along. It gave me endometriosis and decided we should be coeliac just to keep me on my toes and give me something to complain about but this year it’s pushing things a bit far.

My body decided to let me have January but hit me with Kidney stones the end of February which landed me in A+E for the night and then sent home to try and pass my stone. I didn’t have the time for this, lambing was due to start and I couldn’t be sick so I only rested for a week.

Then over the last few months I was starting to notice I could feel my insides more, that my tummy was starting to look a little swollen and my period had changed, so of course I was delighted hoping that heading for 40 I might be starting to get menopausal early and no more endometriosis pain for me. So booked myself in for a smear and a chat with my Doctor delighted with the prospect of being pain free only for her to tell me that she thinks I now have fucking fibroids to add to my list of complaints !!

Like seriously what is going on ? 40 in October and my body has decided that this is going to be the year it messes up our illness policy. So today I went back to see if my kidney stone had gone which thank God it Is, tomorrow I am off to get a scan to see exactly what is happening inside me and I have 2 more weeks to wait for my smear results. So this is the reason I needed a distraction  this month, some where to go that stops me thinking about me, about how I can’t be sick, I can’t stay in a hospital and about all the what it could be’s. I know there are lots of people an awful lot sicker than I am, I am not even sick but I am stressed but feel a little better for writing it down. I now see what that old saying means and I also need to start taking care of myself a little more, I take care of everyone else but not myself.

How do you take care of yourself ? Or are you like me and push till you break ?

What Are Your Favourite Magazines ? Here Are Mine.

I used to spend a lot of money every month on all the fashion magazines ,getting a new one every time I went to a shop. I knew all the top designers, new up and coming talent and all the latest trends, now I wouldn’t know what is in fashion or not. Some of the reasons my reading choice changed are my age, as I get older I care less whether what I am wearing is current or not and I am sure now I won’t ever fit into any tiny designer dresses. Make up and skin care has been broken down over the years into the few  products I love and trust and I have let myself read about things I love rather than what everyone else is reading just to stay up with everyone else.

But possibly the main reason I passed totally on my glossy magazine fix was a video I watched which showed a top fashion magazine with all the ads taken out. What started as a magazine of 100+ pages ended up with maybe 30 made up of articles to read. So I was wasting my money and a lot if it monthly on glossy designer ads ! that was my turning point.

So what you see above are now the only magazines I buy monthly and two are only a few times a year. I have always had a love of anything creative, I am not a creative person but creative things really make me happy. I love the idea of making things simple, I love paper, books, food and art and these bring all I love together for me.

I get them all online except Project calm which I get in Tesco and it was out yesterday. The first one is  The Simple Things

I have been getting this for a couple of years now and I love it, it covers everything lifestyle and have beautiful photos and paper which is a good thing in a magazine.

The next is 91 Magazine

I am new to this one, it’s only my second one but this is just home and photo goals. This isn’t monthly, I think it’s every 6 months but it’s just gorgeous and one that you would look back over again and again. I spaced out reading mine over a month I didn’t want it to end.

The next is Flow Magazine

This is all things craft, paper, art, design and lifestyle as well. This one isn’t monthly and I get it delivered but you can buy it in good bookshops.

The last is Project Calm Magazine

This is one I get in Tesco as they don’t have subscriptions set up yet for it but when they do I will be signing up. This is a little like the Flow magazine but it also has some yoga, wellness and lifestyle and I was hooked after the first copy. It’s a fairly new magazine but I am addicted.

So there are my magazine reads, the only ones that I buy now, the ones I ration how much I read so they will last longer because they are so good and the ones that I feel better for reading and not depressed like the fashion and beauty ones.

Let me know what you like to read ? I would love to hear.
